This is my eighth general mini-post. Or, it would be a mini-post, if I didn’t decide to repost some things from the second one. In any case, I’m currently working on episode 43 of Innocence Seekers: April Light<\/em>, although progress is slow. However, I will instead discuss the background setting of Innocence Seekers<\/em>.<\/p>\n

While the setting of Innocence Seekers: The Black Rose<\/em> resembles that of the present-day real world, there are important differences. First of all, the series has aspects of alternate history. Although many things (like the World Wars) occurred in both our timeline and the series’ timeline, other things happened differently. One thing I’ll mention here is that communism was never established in Russia. A botched attempt to kill the imperial family, thanks to the interference of individuals acting independently of the Zodiac Warriors, resulted in Namari declaring “We know what you have attempted to do,” and invaded Russia with hundreds of zeppelins, bombing the Reds to submission (if you’re wondering, the imperial family made their way to Japan).<\/p>\n

Because communism was stillborn in the Innocence Seekers<\/em> timeline, China never became communist. By the time of The Black Rose<\/em>, China has instead become a unified republic allied with Namari, although like in our timeline, there are still tensions between China and the United States. Despite the differences with our timeline, however, both Korea and Vietnam split up in the series’ timeline, although in both cases they are due to ideological differences. While by the time of The Black Rose<\/em> Vietnam has reunified (although, like in our timeline, not without a bloody war), Korea remains separated.<\/p>\n

Because of the differences in history, there are differences in the geopolitical landscape compared to our timeline. I may have mentioned before that Japan and Korea are under the Namari sphere of influence (at least, since World War II). What this means is that, even though they are independent, they bear an extremely close relationship with Namari, to the point where to an uninformed observer they seem to be autonomous regions (but then again, autonomous regions tend not to possess their own militaries). Because of the lack of communism, the Cold War is instead a three-way standoff between the United States and its allies, Namari and its allies, and the theocracies that have appeared in the Middle East. While in the years immediately after World War II most of the Western nations were aligned with the United States (at this point Namari’s major allies on Earth were China and Russia), in the 80s many nations switched sides to Namari.<\/p>\n

Anyway, I’ve gone into a bit too much about the setting. Instead, some information on New World Revolution<\/em>:<\/p>\n
