Main characters

Shion Masaki (真崎 詩音)

Main article: Shion Masaki

Shion is the main character of this entry. The only child of Sachirō and Yukina, Shion is a girl who is willing to go to any length in order to reach her goals.

Shion knows that she has cousins named Nanako (from the father's side) and Shiori (from the mother's side), but at the beginning of the story, it is not clear whether they are alive or dead. Eventually Shion finds both of her cousins in Kariuba.

Yae Shizuka (静 八重)

Main article: Yae Shizuka

Yae is one of Shion's friends. The only child of Takeru Sugasaki and Nanae Shizuka, Yae is a nice and caring girl who is willing to listen to other people's problems.

Until the events of the story, Yae had never even seen her father. This is explained in the story, when the girls find Takeru.

Tomoe Arafuna (荒船 友恵)

Main article: Tomoe Arafuna

Tomoe is one of Shion's friends. She is a girl who tends to take things rather seriously.

Tomoe's parents were murdered three years before the beginning of the story. While Nanae is technically her guardian, Tomoe often lives by herself, despite only being nine years of age at the beginning of the story (a high level of self-sufficiency at such a young age is a common trait of magical girls and one of the traits which set them apart from other children). It also helps that Tomoe's and Yae's houses are within a few hundred metres from each other.

Nanako Masaki (真崎 奈々子)

Main article: Nanako Masaki

Nanako is a girl whom Shion and her friends find in Kariuba. The only child of Mikiyoshi, Nanako is a rather shy and timid girl. As her parents were brutally murdered when she was still a baby, Michiko Yumemura had looked after her until the events of the story.

It turns out that Nanako is Shion's cousin, who was thought to have died as well.

Supporting characters

Chitose Tanamura (棚村 千歳)

Main article: Chitose Tanamura

Chitose is one of Shion's friends. The youngest of four sisters, Chitose is a girl who has a sense of duty. While she does not initially accompany Shion and her friends to Kariuba, she still helps them by doing what she can from Earth.

Alisa (ありさ)

Main article: Alisa (Yume ni Aruku)

Alisa is the young princess of the Kariuban kingdom of Rarue.

Michiko Yumemura (夢村 道子)

Main article: Michiko Yumemura

Michiko is the woman who looked after Nanako after Nanako's parents were murdered.

Sachirō Masaki (真崎 幸郎)

Main article: Sachirō Masaki

Sachirō is Shion's father and Nanako's uncle.

Yukina Masaki (真崎 幸奈)

Main article: Yukina Masaki

Yukina is Shion's mother and Shiori's aunt.

Nanae Shizuka (静 七重)

Main article: Nanae Shizuka

Nanae is Yae's mother.

Takeru Sugasaki (菅崎 武流)

Main article: Takeru Sugasaki

Takeru is Yae's father, who apparently disappeared before Yae was even born. It later turns out he was forcibly sent to Kariuba.

Antagonists

Kralugo Ebrake (クラルゴ・エブラケ)

Main article: Kralugo Ebrake

Kralugo was formerly Rarue's top general and the kingdom's most powerful mage, however, after reading the Book of Kariuba, he has turned evil and is actively fighting Rarue.

Berani Korban (ベラニ・コルバン)

Main article: Berani Korban

Berani is Kralugo's most powerful subordinate. He was responsible for the death of Nanako's parents, and has continually made many threats to Michiko. It is initially unclear what his intentions are regarding Nanako.

Akio Hisanaga (久永 明男)

Main article: Akio Hisanaga

Akio is the man who was responsible for sending Takeru to Kariuba.

Story

The story will be split into several chapters, which focus on different characters and/or settings. Chapters will have their own antagonists (although some characters may be antagonists for multiple chapters). The chapters themselves will be split into a number of episodes. These episodes are not to be considered full stories by themselves, but rather portions of the complete chapter (it may be possible that multiple episodes are used for the ending, for example).

The episodes themselves will be written in a particular format. Dialogue will be written as follows:

-Yae: Nanako, please listen to me.
-Nanako: Yae...
-Yae: Nanako, you are no longer alone. We will always be with you. So, please, stop fighting for him.

Actions will be written as follows, using third-person (in English, all actions will be written in the past tense, including using past perfect (pluperfect) and past progressive forms as opposed to their present equivalents):

The three girls approached the Portal Monolith. As they approached, someone called out to them. Shion turned her head and noticed Chitose running towards them.

Thoughts (in first-person perspective) will be written in quotes, but not with dialogue markers. Example:

"Wait... did she say her name was Shiori Komiya? Komiya... that was Mum's name before she married Dad. And Mum did mention that I had a cousin named Shiori. But... could she be... could she really be... my cousin? Maybe I should ask."

Note that the POV character may change at any time, even in the middle of an episode.
