Innocence Seekers: The Black Rose – Trivia (Part 3)

This is yet another post on the little things of Innocence Seekers: The Black Rose. The first two posts can be found here and here.

Characters (specific)

Note: More birthday connections will come in a later post.

  • Natasha’s birthday is December 21, which is four days before Christmas. Notably, her first name has some connection with Christmas.
  • Chelsea’s birthday is July 16, which is shared with Japanese voice actress Yōko Hikasa.
  • Catherine’s birthday (June 3) is identical to that of Japanese voice actress Megumi Han.
  • Akari and the two Himawaris all have the sunflower as the flower associated with them.
  • The surnames of Hiyori, Inori and Yuri all correspond to their magic colour. Not only that, their surnames share the same second character (川).

Metahistory

  • The first versions of the stories made are unlikely to be published. This is because I often change things (such as adding new characters) as I go along. Only when I have completed a significant portion of the story will I consider publishing it.
  • There was an entry of Innocence Seekers: The Black Rose which is now cancelled. It focused on a number of characters living on the planet Haralni, which was adversely affected by Gakran. Innocence Seekers: Dimensional Crossing was developed as a prequel to this entry, and Innocence Seekers: Akari of the Light as a sequel. I cancelled this entry after losing the draft of my story, and some of the characters will be transferred to Akari of the Light.
  • Innocence Seekers: The Black Rose (as well as later Innocence Seekers sagas) was originally planned to only have nine major entries, which would be numbered. I decided not to number entries a few months ago, when I made the side stories more important (not to mention the entry which was cancelled was intended to be one of the numbered entries).
  • Akari was originally conceived as a character who was mentioned, but never appeared, in the standalone roguelike project I mentioned in the previous trivia post.
  • The current “chapter-episode” format was conceived because I had some difficulty finishing single monolithic chapters. By splitting chapters into “episodes” I could instead focus on smaller targets.
  • Some characters in Innocence Seekers: The Black Rose were based on characters in projects I worked on in the past (and may still be working on at the moment). As an example, Amelia was based on the character of the same name in The Eternal Diary. Mirai’s personality and preferred element are almost identical to that of Nanako of Yume ni Aruku.
  • Conversely, some characters in my side projects were based on characters in Innocence Seekers. As an example, the main characters of From the Scattered Petals, to the Blooming Flower have somewhat similar personalities to the main characters of Innocence Seekers: Akari of the Light (Teru and Akari even share the same sunflower motif).

Miscellaneous

  • When writing the story, I sometimes imagine the characters being voiced by specific voice actors. When I state how a character’s voice should sound, I may use a voice actor (or one of their roles) as a refernce point.
  • One of the reasons I have so many female characters is because I have difficulty thinking of male names I like which fit into the story or setting.

I can’t really think of any more, so maybe I should stop these posts for a while (unless if I want to do more birthday connections).

P.S. I wish a happy birthday to Cocoa Hoto of Is the Order a Rabbit?. I also wish to congratulate Japanese voice actress Tomoyo Kurosawa for turning 20 today.

P.P.S. I did not expect that… I did NOT expect that…. (If you’re wondering why I just said that, watch the first episode of Haifuri. Many people expected it to be a CGDCT-type show, but come the second half of the episode, you’ll see why it has that title. As for me, well, I’m going to continue watching it; I want to see how the plot unfolds.)

P.P.P.S. I have completed the first draft of the first episode of From the Scattered Petals, to the Blooming Flower. Hopefully, I’ll start the second episode, and revise the first, if necessary. Only once I’ve accepted the first episode will I publish it.
