Hiyori Kigawa (黄川 ひより) is a character who appears in Innocence Seekers: The Black Rose. Her first appearance is in Innocence Seekers: The Silver Princess, where she appears alongside her mother. She is part of the main cast in Innocence Seekers: Akari of the Light and is a supporting character in Innocence Seekers: Mimori Flower Club.

Hiyori is known for her kindness towards others, as well as her intelligence. Because of this, her classmates and friends see her as a girl who can be relied upon for many things. While she follows her mother's footsteps as a creator and maintainer of magic-based devices, Hiyori wants to make her own mark in the world, so she dislikes it when people refer to her using any reference to her mother.

As a mage, Hiyori is a metal and electric elemental magic user, who prefers ranged combat, either with guns or spells. Like Yayoi, her raw power output is low, but Hiyori makes up for a lack of power through skillful use of her spells, as well as her ability to coordinate attacks with her allies. Her Inherent Ability is Binds of Blessings (祝福の結び, shukufuku no musubi), which, when activated, ensures that any binding magic cast by Hiyori can neither be broken nor dispelled (other than when Bind Breaker is used to break the magic, which in this case will result in a Paradox Blast). However, this also vastly increases the mana consumption of her binding magic, and the ability can only be activated in Full Burst mode.

Backstory

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD

Much like Akari, Hiyori has been living in the shadow of her mother. When she first attended Mihara Elementary School, she met Akari and became friends with her. Because both girls recognised that they wanted to make their own mark in the world, beyond that of their mothers', they quickly became best friends. Hiyori later met Michiru and Yayoi after Akari befriended them.

One day, Yayoi showed Hiyori and the rest of their friends a letter sent by Sumire, about a girl named Inori. Hiyori took it upon herself to write a letter to Inori, and with Akari's help, sent a letter directly to her. Inori replied, and the two became friends.

Hiyori had known for a while that she was a magical girl, and spent a fair amount of her free time honing her magic skills. She eventually put this to good use in Innocence Seekers: Akari of the Light.
